Our courses focus on the elements of Business that you need every day:
Your class will be set up like a typical meeting room. With you and seven other students, the course environment simulates that of a typical meeting within a company. In each class you are required to speak about a topic of your choice that you researched the week before, explaining what you learned to your classmates.
Your classmates will then ask you questions about your topic, engaging in an interesting discussion where everyone gets to practice their speaking skills. The key to this approach is relevance. The most important thing when learning a new language is making sure that the content you use to learn is relevant to you. If the content is not relevant, your brain won’t make the effort to learn the material.
In an English course, whether a general English or Business English course, you’re going to learn a lot of new grammatical concepts that will many times seem boring and unimportant. But the truth is, grammar is very important, and it’s not that hard to see if you know where to look.
When you see grammar in action in real-world texts and situations, such as business interviews, Ted Talks, Business News articles, and case studies, you start to learn English grammar in a practical way. This will help you improve in all aspects of communication in your work life.
Many times as an already fairly advanced English speaker, you already know much more English than you think you do. The key is getting your brain to connect with your mouth when you need to use those words you already know. By enrolling in a Business English course, you’ll be practicing your speaking three hours per week. This will give you the chance to practice using English consistently in a supportive environment with other people who share your English learning goals. After finishing your ten-week course, your speaking confidence in English will be at an all-time high.
You’ll learn how to improve your English writing by learning writing fundamentals from the ground up. Starting with sentence structure and word order, we’ll then move into how to write emails and advanced reports. You’ll also learn the most common mistakes Dutch speakers make when writing in English, and how to fix them quickly.
You’ll write business emails and reports in your course and receive writing feedback, that way you can improve your writing and find out where you need to improve.
You will be required to give a 10-minute max presentation at the end of your course on a topic of your choice (as long as it’s business related.) You can use this opportunity to show off all the English skills you’ve learned through your course, as well as practice the presentation skills that you need for your career.
We’ll prepare before your presentation, teaching you how to give a good presentation and how to organize your delivery. This will help you with your skills any time you need to give a presentation in the future, as well as build your confidence when you need to present in your own company.
